We support the families of all communities in Slough.
We especially aim to support disadvantaged groups, low income families and ethnic migrant communities. We want to help them through the difficult journey from displacement to integration. MoSD was set up in June 2001 to provide children’s and young people’s activities and give advice and support to their families.
The objective of MoSD is to create a safe and welcoming environment in which to deliver a variety of activities focussed on community needs.
►Outreach to, and support for, all communities in and around Slough.
►Providing culturally sensitive support for families with children and young people in an area with a large population of low-income families and ethnic migrants where no similar programme exists.
►Enabling children and young people to have the opportunity to gain self-development skills, self-esteem, and self confidence through organised activities.
►Providing positive role models for children and young people that contribute to good citizenship and positive aspirations.
►Creating appropriate and accessible support services which will enhance the regeneration of Slough’s neighbourhoods and growing population.
“Turn Disadvantage into advantage,
turn fear into hope,
turn isolation into friendship,
turn despair into opportunities,
by the creation of survivors through the support of survivors."
